He’d ruddy well kill the fiendiest fiend

To the poor and the ugly he was a friend
A toothless old biddy called him a godsend
He worked her on ships then his garden she’d tend

To all that he knew he was a great adder
No man could match his mathematical power

Three Famous Words

It was the first time that they met,
They didn't have a clue,
The future that would await them,
The feelings they never knew.

It was the guy's eyes that she had seen,
They were brown and dark as night,
It was the girl's friendly smile,
And their love at first sight.

It was the first time that they spoke,
And no, it was no myth,
That while she stared into his eyes,
He was the one she wanted to be with.

Even though he felt the same,
But this girl, she did not know,
That he loved her with all his heart,
But his feelings he did not show.

So after many hopeless days,
The girl no more believed in fate,
That was when the guy realized,
That he had made a huge mistake.

He came back just in time,
To steal that poor girl's heart away,
She forgave and she forgot,
All the nights she layed awake.

He told her that he was sorry,
And if he could have a second chance,
And it was just a while after,
That they had their first kiss and dance,

He always tells her that he is sorry,
And how much he really cares,
She believes him and forgives,
Both their feelings they deeply share.

So every night he tells her,
Before she turns out her light,
Those three little famous words,
I love you and goodnight.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1809 - 1861)


MRS. BROWNING was born in London, England, in 1809, and she died at Casa Guidi, Florence, June 29, 1861. "Her studies were early directed to the poets of antiquity, and, under the guidance of her blind tutor, Boyle, whose name she always warmly cherished, she mastered the rich treasures of AEschylus. The sublime Grecian possessed for her a charm which was only equaled by the fascination held over her wondering spirit by Shakespeare." While she was profoundly versed in Greek literature, and intimately acquainted with all the Attic writers in tragedy and comedy, she was thoroughly versed in pure and undefiled English. In her extensive correspondence with contemporaries, she shows a thorough knowledge of English literature, from Chaucer to her own time. Here are a few of her poems:

Teenage Angst



See the world through your wide innocent eyes,
brown and large they do not seem the same size,
as all other eyes that are shut so tight,
i would say that this is wrong, but you seem alright...

when will you wake up, wake up,
you've got your eyes wide open,

you must realise they're closed,

when i say 'grow up',
you tell me to chill out,
when i say 'slow it down',
you say you've got no time,
when will you see that,
you're full of contradictions,
and coming so close,
to living life in fiction,

you live in your own world, so you don't see it,
you've lived here for so long and don't perceive it,
does this make you scared, do you repress it?
cos now you won't see good, see bad has stressed it,

so will you hold on, hold on,
you've got your eyes bright open,

you must realised they're closed...

so grow up now my dear, before it's too late,
so many colours here trust me you can't wait,

When I Am Reminded

Each day is a new beginning given by God
I am reminded how blessed I am as this road I tread.
A new friendship comes to mind and it is my treasure.
Watching a child at play is my greatest pleasure.
Being able to help a fallen soul will
be my greatest joy.
Watching a bird build a nest while the
world searches for rest.
I am reminded I am only a small part of his plan.
When skies are blue or gray you are always there beside me.
I am reminded of God's love at the site
of a rainbow after the rain.
When I see the flag I'm reminded of the
freedoms I share.
I remember God's love to me when I
suffer much pain.
As the clowns come to town I am grateful I'm able to laugh.
I'll share your heavy load to let you
know I care.
I am reminded day by day we have much to share.

Through the darkness of ignorance

Preached to by living Decibels of the Devils' throne and while
Drenched in the reality of todays' false Prophets

You see I believe in the word of Christ.
Those who believe they will never have a chance, those who religiously enjoy blasphemy; the Devils' dance. Those who's very being is ruled by prejudice and hate, Still have a chance to walk through Heavens' gate.
Look up all you sinners, somebody is watching you.
Look up all you sinners, he knows everything you do.
NOW is the time to clean off the slate
Christ has open arms, he understands, knows no hate.
This is, I believe, the gift he gave to man

Would you just listen and please don't say a word, just yet,
I'd like you to think back to the very first time we met,
How you felt around me? The memories we shared,
And just remember that once upon a time, you really cared.

Now think about how we parted, and how much I cried,

That I told you the honest truth about why we were to split,
But now I'd like you to know that my heart broke bit by bit.

The pain was deep, unbearable and painful, for so many years,

Two California Parks in Early Spring


I. Concord Skateboard Park

Sheltered in this smooth, round,
concrete nest of dips and curves,
obelisks and giant, Mayan steps

on a blind corner
hidden by small hills
from two busy streets
intersecting at its tip,

Twenty boys,8 to 18,
practice their moves,
swiveling one-pointedly
up and down and around.

Some day they’ll move on
from this birthing-ground,
swiveling down the decades
on a board or office chair.

A few girls watch,
Sprawled on the grass.
Behind them all,
flowering crabapples, palms,
then the mountains.

The city’s wise to have
invested a few bucks
toward its future
in an old, vacant lot.

II. A Chant To Heather Farms Park

Sun of fire,
water of lake and fountain,
earth whose soil sustains the lawns,
and air of the sweet breath of spring:
the four elements are holding
a conclave here on this Sunday afternoon,

drawing many families,
and especially, today,
calling forth many sounds.

Oh, park of a basketball's steady bounce,
of lovers whispering in Russian
and the creaking rhythm of swings.

Park of car engines starting,
of families who laugh or talk
in Hindi, Bengali, English, Arabic,
and in goose-squawk and duck-flap,

Park of the slide of scooter wheels,
of loud feet chasing the one
who caught the football,
of a hand tapping the body of a guitar,
and a far-off, hip-hop radio.

Silent with pen,
o park of joy,
I take you home on paper,
I take you home in my heart.

I knew what she did
