Happy Black History Month

Lift Every Voice and Sing
by James Weldon Johnson

Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chast'ning rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered.
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who hast brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who hast by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

Christmas Prayer

"Merry Blessed Christmas Everyone"

"God grant you the light of Christmas,
which is faith;
the warmth of Christmas,
which is purity;
the righteousness of Christmas,
which is justice;
the belief in Christmas,
which is truth;
the all of Christmas,
which is Christ."

Have a Blessed New Year

My color purple by WENDY C JENNINGS

IF I COULD HAVE SEEN MY COLOR PURPLE

IF I COULD HAVE SEEN MY LIFE, WHERE WOULD I BE?

LOOKING INTO THE THE MOUNTAINS MY EYES HAVE CRIED MANY OF FOUNTAINS.

MANY OF THINGS I'VE HAVE COME TO SEE,

I PRAISE THE LORD FOR WHAT HE HAS ALLOWED ME TO BE.

THE DOCTORS PRONOUCE ME DEAD AT TWO, MY GRANDMOTHER PRAYED AND SAID

GOD IS NOT THROUGH.

AT FIVE A MAN HURT ME BADLY

I'M STILL ALIVE.

MY YOUNG TEEN LIFE I FELT SO OUT IN SPACE,

MOST OF MY FRIENDS HAD LEFT THIS PLACE.

I HAD A CHILD WHO WOULD LOVE ME

A MAN WHO WOULD PUT A GUN TO MY FACE.

I'VE NEVER KNOWN HOW TO LOVE MYSELF, I THOUGHT I HAD TO PLEASE OTHERS TO BE LOVED.

I MUST LOVE MYSELF

THAT IS WHAT I MUST SEE TO BE ME.

I'VE CLIMB MANY MOUNTINS OF PAIN.

NOW I MUST CLIMB THE MOUNTIN THAT GOD HAS PROCLAIM.

ACCEPTING THE LORD CHRIST AS MY LORD AND SAVIOR.

I WILL SOON SEE MY LIFE WILL BE FREE.

PURPLE

THAT IS ME

JUST LIKE THE COLOR PURPLE GOD HAS NOT PASSED ME BY.

HE WAS JUST TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING.

AS I LOOK OUT INTO THAT BIG BLUE SKY, MY COLOR IS PURPLE

THERE IS NO REASON TO EVER CRY

GOD HAS NOT PASSED ME BY.

THANK YOU GOD FOR ALLOWING ME THE STRENTH TO CLIMB THESE MOUNTINS.

IF I COULD HAVE SEEN MY COLOR PURPLE

YOU WOULD HAVE NEVER SAW, THAT IS ME,

PAIN

UNDERSTANDING

REPECT

PRAYING

LOVING

EXPECTING

THE UNEXPECTED, MY COLOR PURPLE

Fade To Purple

As if Im sitting on purple clouds
Covered in purple shrouds
Singing purple kissed melodies loud
The Purple Master himself would be proud

Gifted, these fragrant purple flowers
Soaking wet, drenched from purple showers
Lifted, high high high atop purple towers

Yet as I walk through purple haze rooms
Filled with purple phased fumes
Im enlightened by the purple tazed blooms
Purple vibes that remove crazed glooms

Hungry I appetize on purple wood blunts
To then feast upon a purple smoke lunch
Break bread, along with the purple grape bunch
Fade To Purple To Get Me Through The Crunch

Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I, Too, Sing America by Langston Hughes

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed--

I, too, am America.

Dreams by Langston Hughes

Dreams
by Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Prayer for my Sister in Christ

Lord, I pray for my sis who is in need.
I'm asking for You to intercede.
You know the trials she's going through.
She wants answers that come from You!

Lead her in the path You want her to go.
For it's Your will, which she seeks to know!
She knows that Your timing alone is the best.
But, please, grant it soon---is my request.

I ask Your help because I really care.
Her heart is in deep need of repair.
She hurts so much, she's broken inside.
Yet, she knows she can trust You as her Guide!

She's confused, what is she to do?
She need YOU to come to her rescue!
There's no answers that she can see.
You can bring her where she needs to be!

I know everything is under Your control.
I know You love & care for her precious soul.
I know You've never left her alone.
I believe Your will soon be made known!

Until that time comes, please hold her tight.
Let her know, everything will be made right.
Kiss her tears away when she cries.
Bring her back to her sunshiny skies.

Those sunny skies that were once overhead.
They have been filled with dark clouds instead.
Please lift the burden, her strength renew.
To Your praise & glory, let the sun shine through!

Be Thankful

Be Thankful

By Unknown

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.

If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something,

for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.

During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations,

because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,

because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach

you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary,

because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.

A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who

are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,

and they can become your blessings.

On Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day

We show our love;
We express our deep affections.
Those who are important to us
Get cards and sweet confections.

But Christian love is not just for
The ones we hold most dear;
Jesus said "love everyone;"
He made that very clear.
For Christians, it is every day.
We should care and love and serve
Everyone we meet in life,
Whether they do or don't deserve.

Let's follow Jesus' good command
To love everyone we meet.
Valentine's Day every day
Will make life twice as sweet.
